Bi-Monthly Tourney at Beachfront Park
Starting Sunday April 8th (yes, Easter Sunday) will begin the the Informal Local Tourney Series. These tourneys are open to all. These will be played the second and fourth Sunday of each month at 10am starting at Tee One by the backstop on Howe Dr - rain or shine. 2nd Sunday = singles, 4th Sunday = Doubles, 1st and 3rd sundays = Community Disc Throwing Clinic. Cost for the Locals will be $5 /person and $10/per pair in doubles, w/ $1 of each $5 is to be directed towards the Ace Pot (So bring one and two dollar bills!). If no one achieves an Ace funds go towards course development at the end of each month. Doubles team will be chosen randomly unless there is consensus agreement. Kevin Mealue will collect, hold and distribute funds to winners and Natalie, the club Secretary. Aces must be confirmed by two witnesses.
Rules:
1. Holes where there are people should be skipped.
2. Discs in trees higher then can be reached with a jump cost a stroke. Do not use bottles or stones to retrieve discs. You may climb the tree or use an extender. Retrieval should take no more then three minutes of tourney time (or the descretion of the party). In the event it cannot be retrieved during game time Dan Weatherspoon can be called on (for a fee if he's really put out) to retrieve sed disc with his super extendo retriever.
3. All cement slabs and roadways are out of bounds and cost a stroke. Mini paths and sidewalks near tee three are in bounds. Once OB, throws should proceed where the disc went out.
4. Ocean is not OB IF you play the disc where it lies. If the disc is moved it will cost a stroke, heh.
New Meeting Place for Sunday Game at Beachfront Park

New Disc Golf course to open soon at McVay Rock State Park, OR
Jeff and Doug have been working hard and have been granted tentative approval to set up a temporary disc golf course at McVay Rock State Park in Harbor, OR two miles north of the California border. Applications are in progress for concrete pads and baskets. Tone poles will be installed in early February. Stay tuned for a map.
Congratulations to Local Boys
Congratulations to Crescent City local boys Ron Cole and Blane Dodson. Ron and Blane competed in a disc golf tournament held at Lake Selmac Oregon on Sunday, 1-21-07. They placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the amateur division. Way to represent guys! Let it be known, us Wild Rivers throwers are a force to be reckoned with.
Play the 7 hole course at Joe Hamilton Elementary School
Check out the new 7 hole Disc golf course at Joe Hamilton Elementary School. In June 2006, a group of us got together and helped build the concrete forms for the tee-pads. The students dug out the dirt for the tee-pads and the baskets the next week. On Thursday June 8th, Haben Construction poured concrete and members of the club helped out with the leveling. Thanks to all who helped out, especially Ron who spearheaded the effort and designed the course and Jeff who was instrumental in the tee-pad design and construction.
Remember that the course is closed to the public during school hours
